Samaritan Heath Services has hired two board-certified physicians to launch a comprehensive plastic and reconstructive surgery practice - the first of its kind for the regional health care system.

Dr. Richard Havard, a well known local surgeon who has been practicing in Corvallis and Albany for five years, and Dr. Todd Willcox, who joins Samaritan from private practice in Gig Harbor, Wash., will work under the clinic name of Samaritan Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, 11 million people received cosmetic treatments in 2006, which was up seven percent over the previous year. Reconstructive plastic surgery treatments are also on the rise with more than 5.2 million procedures performed last year.

"Partnering with these excellent physicians fills a need for this growing service in our region," said Dr. Larry Mullins, president and CEO of Samaritan. "It is important that breast cancer survivors who want reconstructive surgery and individuals who are interested in cosmetic surgical options have access to those services close to home."

Havard and Willcox, both members of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, offer both reconstructive and cosmetic surgical procedures including breast surgery, rhinoplasty and liposuction Dr. Havard is also certified in hand surgery. And his office offers non-surgical cosmetic procedures such as Botox, laser hair removal and skin tightening.

The two physicians will maintain separate offices in Corvallis until a newly constructed building is completed on the Good Sam campus:

Dr. Havard's office is located at 2298 NW Kings Blvd. and can be reached by calling 738-1516. He also sees patients once a week in Albany.

Dr. Willcox's office is in the Samaritan Professional Center at 3517 NW Samaritan Drive, Suite 100. He can be reached at 768-4930.
