Woman directs cosmetic surgery practice
Kathleen Smith
Job: I am the practice director for Azul Cosmetic Surgery and Medical Spa owned by Dr. Patrick M. Flaharty, facial cosmetic surgeon. My responsibilities include managing staff and human resource functions, overseeing the company's business services, coordinating marketing projects, patient care coordinator and more recently managing our two new building office projects in Fort Myers and Bonita Springs.
In the near future: We have recently moved into our new surgical center, St Mark's, at International Center off Daniels Parkway. In September we will be moving into our new Fort Myers office in Parker Commons close to our surgical center. And by year's end, we will be opening our new Bonita Springs office.
Personally this year I have moved into a new home in Bonita Springs, I had facial cosmetic surgery with Dr. Flaharty in March and am thrilled with the results. And best of all, my youngest daughter graduated from Barry University in Miami (15 years of putting kids through college is over). Quite a few milestones this year in my life as I am blessed in so many ways.
Hobbies, Interests and activities: Moving to this paradise in Southwest Florida five years ago has created the most amazing life....one I would only have dreamed of. This area offers absolutely everything you could possibly want....I feel like I am on a permanent vacation!
I enjoy entertaining, dining out, the beach and boating, reading, traveling, spending time with family and friends and most of all shopping.....for shoes!!!!
Family: I am single and have three amazing daughters and one granddaughter.
Last book read: A powerful memoir written by my own daughter, Lynn Marie Smith, titled "Rolling Away.''
It's a true story about her frenzied flight into drug addiction and her long journey to come back down to earth. Harrowing and inspiring, Lynn and I were both featured on MTV's True Life, Oprah, and The Dr. Keith Ablow Show sharing our story. Lynn speaks in jails, rehabs, and schools throughout North America.
Role models: My father, Stephen Bennick. Being from Pennsylvania my father was a coalminer for 20 years and although he worked six days a week under the most dangerous conditions, he would rise every morning whistling as he shaved because he was always grateful for his blessings as he said. He then joined the police force and became captain and retired after 20 more years. Always smiling and happy, he is such a positive role model.
Word of Advice: We all have dark moments or days in our lives and we don't always have control over what happens to us but we can control how we react or handle it.
Enjoy each day of your life and live it to the fullest because today is all that we have.
Being grateful for all our blessings is key to a happy life. And remember "your thoughts create your reality" so keep them positive.
